All Eyes On Perserverance - This is Only a Test 587 - 2/18/21

We get excited for the Mars Perserverance rover landing happening later today in this week's episode. Jeremy finally watches In and Of Itself, we get hyped for The Last of Us casting, and try to deciper the new Chevy Bolt announcements. Plus, Kishore gets a Pelaton and we wrack our brains around reverse engineering the source code to GTA III.

Norm I hope you're getting some sun light when you're not sat in that dark room? :)

36:46 I think the sitcom format is there because Wanda is mourning and wants to keep things light. She said she felt really lonely some days before it started, so it could be that she's under some dark effect from someone else, or she just had a mental breakdown and created a happy place, or..... it's Mojo! Manipulating her while turning it all into a T.V show to enslave Mojo World!! HAaAHAhaHaHaaaaaAaaaa.. well, ok.
44:27 Hah, can't ignore the cat, cat deserves a pat, pet the cat, that's what we're here for.

Kinda ironic to discuss the casting of Last of Us, without being able to go for Ellen Page, as she, well, he came out as a man (Elliot) last December, it's like some Hollywood paradox.

I think if you explain the Sit Com scenarios, it could look very cheap and cheesy. It's really as simple as 'The Dream' and the progressing decades are just her mind trying to bridge the gap from the Uber-Ideal 50s to her last, catastrophic memories.

Does anyone know if there is any legal way to watch In&Of Itself outside of the US (where Hulu is not an option)? Preferably without a VPN.

5:50 Kishore, "like American Ninja Warrior"? The park is in Japan so they can model it off the original Ninja Warrior / Sasuke.

That "I'm feeling lucky" feature is alive and kicking in the UK. It's just called "play something". Much excite. But if I wanted to sit in front of something I didn't want to watch I'd turn on the TV.

I’m surprised wandavision didn’t do a full house episode, maybe Elizabeth Olsen preferred to not acknowledge any connection to that show, but either way I liked the choice of Malcolm in the middle

I'm of the same mind about the "new" Bolt. Other than the seat issue I love my 2017 but I don't know why they made both and wasted the development money on it. Just do the EUV and drop the original. I suppose it's because the Bolt EV is now only base LT trim for lower cost and the Bolt EUV can be optioned out with more goodies. The the price is way better. I can't rationalize a new car now that I'm indefinitely working from home but the ID4 is interesting. I'll probably wait 5 years until some of these new models hit the used market.

I think maybe we need to chill out a bit on the whole spoiler culture as a society. It won't kill someone to discuss something before they see it. And it's not up to everyone else to protect others experience (all the time). Maybe I'm wrong. And of course you can still be respectfully about it (don't be a dick and spoil on purpose) but i think we've gone to far, possibly.

They still have 10.000 ID3‘s somewhere waiting for a update on a USB stick to enable over the air updates😂

I think Norm oversells the emotional impact of in & of itself. It was entertaining, and enjoyable... But not life changing or transforming. When it ended I was just confused, thinking "was this it?" Dunno. Maybe I'm too cynical and jaded to grasp some hidden meaning, or it was too subtle , but it felt soap operaish to me

Will is a character, but he grows on ya. I think he adds a good tension to the show. Will is smart and contributes substantively. We should probably be more graceful with him.

It's bad enough that you leave these shitty comments when he's on the show, must you do it when he's not on the show as well? I wish they would ban you from commenting again like they did with your other account.
2000jago - 13 dager siden
@Sir.Craze- No, that's not sarcasm. Will is podcast poison and makes anything he appears in totally unwatchable. For me anyway (although it seems I'm not alone). Best thing that ever happened to Tested is him leaving. Just wish he'd stay gone...

The blind irrational optimism of people walking on Mars comes from where, and based on what exactly? There is no real evidence that people will make it to Mars other than some romantic notion.
RandomPlaceHolderName - 12 dager siden
@Kishore Hari Hopefully the pace ramps up. A base on the Moon and a manned Lunar station soon perhaps. Seems those would be great stepping stones, and publicity.
Kishore Hari
Kishore Hari - 12 dager siden
@RandomPlaceHolderName It's certainly a big problem. Not an expert enough to say which one is more challenging - but there are some ideas/research on how to deal with the radiation that could work. For example, there are suggestions of surrounding any crewed ship with Lithium to deflect much of the radiation (ESA is testing this now) Operationalizing and testing that research will take years, but it is progressing!
RandomPlaceHolderName - 12 dager siden
@Kishore Hari Isn't radiation a much bigger problem than rocket technology?
Kishore Hari
Kishore Hari - 13 dager siden
I don't think it's blind. There are plans for multiple vehicles that will enable transit to Mars. Yes, lots of complications, but actual plans exist. I'm not irrationally optimistic that this will happen in the next 10 years, but the next 50-75? I don't think that's irrational with the progress on rockets being made.
Sir.Craze- - 13 dager siden
It's funny how I agree with your premises. Getting to mars is hard. You just don't seem to understand the people who understand the math to get it done. My point, you sound really silly, boomer.
